Kyle Shanahan Injured in Car Accident Before 49ers Training Camp.
Following a devastating accident, San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is recuperating. The NFL franchise declared that its head coach will only be able to attend training camp in a limited capacity as he recovers from injuries sustained in a car accident during the league's summer vacation.
"San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car accident last week where he suffered non-life-threatening injuries," on July 25, the 49ers posted a statement on their social media accounts. "Coach Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp while he recovers. Coach Shanahan and the 49ers organization would like to sincerely thank all first responders involved for their efforts and care."
Shanahan, who has been the 49ers' head coach since 2017, collided into an SUV close to his northern California home on July 14. As per to many reports that cited people with direct knowledge of the incident, Shanahan had a concussion, broke his nose, multiple ribs, and his hand. Additionally, the 46-year-old allegedly needed 40 facial stitches.

As stated by Palo Alto Lt. Nicholas Martinez, Shanahan was taken to a nearby hospital before being released later that day, as reported by CNN.
Martinez added that drinking and narcotics had no role in the crash.
He did not provide any other information on the collision, but he did state that neither Shanahan nor the other driver received a ticket for the collision and that they both assisted the authorities.
"Consistent with our standard release of information procedures in such cases," Martinez revealed, "we do not release information regarding the cause of the collision, or which party may have been at fault."
The 49ers stated that associate head coach Chris Foerster and other team coordinators "will handle head coach responsibilities" while Shanahan heals at home.
The next football season will be Shanahan's tenth overall. He has guided the Niners to two Super Bowl visits in 2019 and 2023 amid his tenure as head coach.
On the first day of training camp, the team disclosed Shanahan's accident. On September 10 in Melbourne, Australia, the 49ers will play their inaugural game against the Los Angeles Rams.
