Liberation for Select Fintechs in Nigeria on Frozen Bank Accounts
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on July 26, 2023, 8:19 AM
What a liberation: "The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued an instruction to banks to remove the post-no-debit restriction from the bank accounts of 440 individuals and companies. Among these entities are fintech companies such as Bamboo and Risevest, as well as a sports betting company called Nairabet."
I support the CBN on this decision, as freezing bank accounts of companies when you have nothing to point on how they broke any law is pure economic own-goal. Well done CBN! Yes, you cannot just freeze bank accounts for years, and yet take no action on the firms.
