Gordon Ramsay is sharing details about his health struggles. The British celebrity chef revealed that he just had a skin cancer treatment, along with two pictures that show a line of sutures from the bottom of his ear to his chin, which he later covered with a bandage.
“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma,” on August 30, Gordon posted on Instagram. “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend.”
As to the Mayo Clinic, basal cell carcinoma is a form of skin cancer that frequently manifests as a little translucent lump on the skin and is brought on by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunshine.
“I promise you it’s not a face lift,” the 54-year-old went on. “I’d need a refund…”
While the Kitchen Nightmares star and his wife Tana Ramsay have been maintaining a positive and lighthearted attitude over the situation, his friends and family have offered their support in the comments section. The couple has three children together: Megan, 27, Jack, 25, Holly, 25, Matilda, 23, Oscar, 6, and Jesse, 21 months.
His daughter Holly wrote, "Love you, dad," while TV judge Robert Rinder included a straightforward heart emoji.
In addition to wishing him a quick recovery, Cancer Research UK sent his fans some useful advice on how to avoid skin cancer.
“Glad to hear you're doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun,” the nonprofit wrote. “Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously.”
A little more than a year has passed since the MasterChef star's most recent health update, during which he also urged his followers to use helmets after suffering a terrible bike accident.
“This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut,” last June, Gordon posted on Instagram. “I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries, but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato.”
“I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out,” he went on to say, “but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life.”
