Nara Smith is presenting forth her most stunning work yet. The influencer, who is well-known for her baked-from-scratch culinary escapades, disclosed how she and her husband Lucky Blue Smith found the thinnest of silver linings two days after she reported that Whimsy Lou, their 2-year-old daughter, was diagnosed with cancer last year.
In a July 3 Instagram photo, Nara called her baby a "little warrior girl" while flaunting Whimy's fully adorned head.
She also shared pictures of Whimsy's shorn hair, a hospitalized birthday, and various treatments she's had, giving her almost five million followers an insight into their experience with the illness.
"Sharing something this vulnerable wasn’t an easy decision," the 24-year-old acknowledged, "but seeing every message, prayer, story of a similar experience and kindness has made it a little easier."
She is spreading the love as she and her family—she and her six-year husband are parents to five-year-old Rumble Honey, three-year-old son Slim Easy, Whimsy, and eight-month-old daughter Fawnie Golden. He is also the father of eight-year-old daughter Gravity with former Stormi Bree.
"To every family or parent walking through something heavy right now," she summarized her post by saying, "we’re thinking of you too."
In a post two days prior, Nara expressed her appreciation "for each and every nurse and doctor along our journey who helped us get through and out the other end," describing the difficult journey her family had taken.
"When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER and they didn’t quite know what to make of it," she remembered. "So we took her to our pediatrician. I just remember him going really quiet and calm and my heart dropped in that moment."
She continued, demonstrating a mother's instinct, "The first thing I felt was, 'She has cancer.'"
A series of X-rays, ultrasound tests, and a biopsy proved her worst concerns. "They told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately," in her video, Nara disclosed "Throughout all of this I have been on a plethora of forums, social media and also talked to parents and family in the hospital."
It would be an understatement to say that juggling this with caring for her newborn kid has been difficult.
“Processing this and navigating all of this as a family has been really hard," Nara agreed. "A lot of you have probably realized I’ve been posting a little bit less and this is the reason why. Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging."
Finally, she acknowledged, "Some days are a little easier," "some days are really hard and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way I can."
She will, however, keep trying to find the ideal recipe.
Meanwhile, Nara continued, "We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort—or even hopefully incentivize you to go check something out that you’ve been avoiding. I hope that by sharing this I can bring someone a little bit of comfort and make you feel a little less alone on your journey—whatever that may be."
