Olivia Wilde is enjoying her spontaneous kiss with Penelope Cruz, but she isn't concerned about it. The Don't Worry Darling actress surprised everyone by revealing that she had a kiss with the Oscar winner during the making of The Invite, which was eventually included in the final edit.
“There is a moment in the film where she improvised a kiss with me,” during a recent interview on the Table Manners Podcast, Wilde revealed. She added that she relished every second of the spontaneous occasion. “I was like, ‘Oh, hair in the gate. Do [the scene] again!'”
However, the Tron: Legacy actress was equally excited and agitated.

“I was so shocked when she did it that I actually turned my head and looked directly into the lens and my camera operator, he was like, ‘Olivia!’” she remembered. “I said, ‘Cut, namaste.’ For some reason that was the only thing that came to my mind.”
“My mind went blank because I was so struck by this moment,” the 42-year-old continued. “I lost control. I was so madly in love with her.”
The Invite is a dramedy that follows Joe (Seth Rogan) and Angela (Wilde) as they throw a dinner party for their neighbors Hawk (Edward Norton) and Pina (Cruz) in an effort to revitalize their marriage.
However, when their sexually liberated peers make an unexpected request, the evening takes a different turn.
Cruz wasn't just the reason Wilde was nervous in front of the camera during the star-studded filming. After all, the actress from Cowboys & Aliens, who also directed the A24 movie, needed some persuasion to resume her acting career.

“I was so struck [by the idea] because it hadn’t occurred to me,” she mentioned that her co-stars encouraged her to play San Francisco stay-at-home mother Angela. “I weirdly had imposter syndrome about acting in it but, for some reason, not about directing it.”
“At this point, I feel like a much better director than actor,” Wilde continued, but she “was so happy I ended up jumping in.”
