Olivia Wilde reveals son Otis, 12, watched her edit NSFW scenes from The Invite.
Quote from Oladosun Joshua Segun on June 27, 2026, 3:28 PMOlivia Wilde is extending an invitation into her personal life as a mother. The director, who has two children with her ex-husband Jason Sudeikis, Otis, 12, and Daisy, 8, shared a time-lapse video of her son watching an editing session for The Invite. She marveled at the full-circle event because she had done the same with her mother, filmmaker Leslie Cockburn. On June 26, Wilde posted on her Instagram Story, "Found this video Otis made on my phone while we were editing the movie." She described how she used to watch sessions with the 73-year-old Cockburn while she edited 60 Minutes pieces, "and it made me cry."
In jest, she continued, "And now my kid watches me edit scenes about pegging BUT STILL it’s sweet."
In fact, Wilde, who costarred with Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton in The Invite, is a highly involved mom. "I'm a very present mom even when I'm not able to be consistently present," she said in a recent episode of Call Her Daddy.

“I’m a co-parent. I share custody, and I am really grateful for the opportunity to have this space when I am completely with my kids, completely engaged with them and they are the focus," on the podcast's June 17 episode, she informed host Alex Cooper. "It’s an interesting thing: Once you are sharing custody with someone, it shifts the way you think about parenting.”
The Don't Worry Darling director did, however, need some time to get used to her new routine, particularly because she and 50-year-old Sudeikis had a "really bumpy, bumpy ride" before their 2020 split. Consider the time she received custody documents while performing at CinemaCon 2022.
"Jason has told me that he did not know," Wilde informed Cooper. "I need to believe that in order to continue."
She went on, "People are never their best selves when they're engaging in that kind of process," recognizing the possible roles their attorneys may have played in their legal dispute. "It was so f--ked up in so many ways."
However, Wilde and the Ted Lasso actor now have a friendly co-parenting relationship.
"Whether or not he knew it was going to happen," she went on to say, "I know it really hurt him to see it happening to me."
