On Your Career - OWN Your World

In a piece where graduates have asked for directions on careers, Ucheka Anofienem shared this. I'd noted why defining a purpose is vital as you architect your career (corporations do those). That your friend has raised money does not mean you have to resign your work to start a company. That your classmate is a senator does not mean your academic career is a waste. As Ucheka noted, you must OWN your world.

"You must first determine what you want and be resolute about it. Being clear and specific on your chosen career path is key to success. If you run after many rabbits at the same time, you are unlikely to catch any. You must be able to give a short precise answer when someone asks”What do you want to do in life?” Decide this and then begin to read, study and develop requisite skills that can enhance your capacity to earn money or commercialize whose abilities. Success comes largely by self-development initiatives, much more than anything you were taught at school". Ucheka Anofienem

Yes, the biggest challenge in executing any career strategy is lack of vision. By that I mean, inability to articulate what you want to be.
