The Baywatch alumnus ranked the similarities between her show Pamela's Cooking with Love, which debuted in February, and Meghan Markle's With Love, Meghan, which debuted a week later, on a scale of one to ten. Although she may be the last showgirl, Pamela Anderson acknowledges she was not the first.
"One," Pamela said to Andy Cohen during the Watch What Happens Live broadcast on August 3. “I didn’t really look [for similarities], but I didn’t invent cooking shows.”
Regarding the Duchess of Sussex, the 58-year-old continued, “She’s just doing her thing.”
Jesse Fawcett, Pamela's co-executive producer on her series, also dismissed criticism that centered on the titles and aesthetics of the shows around the time of their premieres.
“We take pride in planting the first seeds – creating original, distinctive programming that audiences love,” In a statement released in March, he explained to the Daily Mail, “and it’s a compliment to see our work with Ms. Anderson resonate so strongly.”
Other celebrities have commented on the royal's latest endeavors, but Pamela and her staff are not occupied with comparing Meghan's work to hers. In fact, Martha Stewart recently shared her candid opinions about Meghan's work in the lifestyle industry.
"Meghan, I don't really know very well, and I hope she knows what she's talking about," In an interview that was published on July 27, the 83-year-old told Yahoo! Lifestyle. "Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important."
How does Martha feel about Meghan being seen as a rising star in the lifestyle industry, which she may have founded in the 1980s?. "I don't mind,” she remarked. “Good luck."
Meghan views herself more as "an entrepreneur and a female founder" and is appreciative of her audience for letting her grow as she goes, despite the similarities and the label of "influencer" that have been applied to her.
In reference to a copyright dispute with the brand's prior name, American Riviera Orchard, the founder of As Ever shared in March that “There are tons of twists and turns—even with the name,” “I was figuring it out in real time.”
She also said, “I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out and also to be forgiving with myself through that. It’s a learning curve."
