The trading app of the future goes public. Yes, Robinhood is hitting the big board.

Robinhood has filed for its initial public offering, with the trading app indicating it will set aside as much as 35% of shares for individual investors — or, as The Wall Street Journal puts it, "Robinhood Wants You to Buy Robinhood Stock on Robinhood." It's expected to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "HOOD." Axios reports Robinhood's agreement to pay $70 million in regulatory fines and restitution for "misleading communication and trading practices" during outages last March allowed Robinhood to "flip" its IPO filing from confidential to public.
