Samsung's $15.4 Billion for Q3 2018

This is simply amazing: a company reporting $15.4 billion in a quarter as profit. That is coming from revenue of $58 billion. For comparison, the total market cap in the Nigerian Stock Exchange is now around $31 billion. Essentially Samsung can buy all the stocks in our bourse with two quarters of profits. It can also fund our national budget with two quarters of profits. This is a perfect example of accumulation of capabilities which typically results to huge value creation.

640K ought to be enough for anybody. Fueled by booming sales of memory chips, Samsung says it expects to report record operating profit of $15.4 billion for the third quarter, up 20% from last year. Revenue is expected to rise just 5% to $58 billion, as smartphone sales seems to have stalled out. (Fortune newsletter)
