“Hi, it’s me. And I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11th and you deserve to hear from me directly and I’m sorry that it’s taken this long,” Blair stated in an Instagram video posted on October 30. “There is a legal matter going on and my lawyers have asked me to not say anything about that day and I’m listening to them, and I take this very seriously.”
“What I can tell you, though, is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself, and that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life,” she went on. “To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry.”
The 54-year-old, who has a 15-year-old son named Arthur with her ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick, also expressed gratitude to everyone who offered assistance after the tragedy.
“And to the people that have written, or called, or sent wishes of love or caring,” she revealed, “it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as is [Blair’s service dog] Scout, who is also okay.”
She added, “So right now I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son and thinking of you all with gratitude and love.”
The New York Port Authority reported to media sources that Blair was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting crew members aboard a Delta Airlines flight between Los Angeles and New York City.
As reported to the NY Port Authority, Blair was arrested and taken to the hospital for assessment following the trip. (One flight attendant was taken to the hospital for additional testing, and two have reported injuries.)
In a statement released after the event, Delta Airlines informed news organizations that the business “has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first."
The actress entered a not guilty plea to two second-degree assault charges.
Blair's representative explained what caused the claimed outburst over a week after the altercation.
"Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight," on October 16, the representative made a statement to media outlets. "There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone. The suggestion by anyone, that Selma does not have multiple sclerosis is outrageous. Her diagnosis has been public since 2018.”
Additionally, the representative simply requests that bystanders maintain an open mind until they have all the information as Blair proceeds in the legal battle.
“There is much more to this story than has been reported,” the statement went on, “and we ask to consider the entirety of the facts before rushing to judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion.”
