Sustaining co-opetition As Meta Orders $10b Cloud Infra from Google

Good People, “uwa bu ahia” [the world is a marketplace] indeed. If not, how would Facebook’s Meta be sending more than $10 billion to Google for cloud infrastructure? As you already know, some of the most advanced chips used by Apple are made by Samsung which has the Galaxy mobile device unit that competes with iPhone and iPad.
This line: “The global push for artificial intelligence dominance is no longer just about algorithms or models—it has become a full-scale contest over infrastructure. That reality was underscored on Thursday when Google struck a six-year cloud computing deal with Meta Platforms worth more than $10 billion…” reminds us of the importance of being a category-king on something, even in a local market. If you become one, there is sustaining co-opetition where companies compete even as they cooperate!
Apple is in talks with Google to potentially integrate the Gemini AI model into an upgraded version of its Siri voice assistant, Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources. Google has reportedly begun training a custom Al model that's compatible with Apple’s servers to underpin the enhanced Siri. However, Apple is still “several weeks away” from deciding whether to use its own in-house AI model or to strike a deal with another company for Siri’s AI upgrade, which has been delayed to 2026.
