T-Pain Shares Reason Behind $100M Catalog Sale.
T-Pain has money in the bank, and it's all for the future of his family. The father of three stated that his daughter Lyriq, sons Muziq and Kaydnz, and wife Amber Najm were at the top of his thoughts while making the decision, more than a year after the "Buy U a Drank" singer sold his entire song library for an incredible $100 million. In particular, they seek to safeguard their future in a field that can be turbulent and unstable.
“Let me tell you something,” according to People, the 41-year-old stated during a Twitch livestream. “When streaming started, nobody told us, or nobody came to any artist and said, ‘Hey, we’re about to put your s--t on streaming platforms. How much do you want your music to cost?’ Suddenly, out of nowhere and without anybody’s consent, all of our music went from a dollar a song to 0.003 cents per play. Nobody asked us s--t.”
His catalog is worth "less and less and less and less," he said, because that value is "lower and lower" gradually.

The math wasn't quite right for T-Pain, whose real name is Faheem Rashad Najm.
“You think I want to leave that to my kids?” he thought. “Out of all this s—t that I’ve told y’all that’s happened to me in this f--kin’ industry, you think I’mma leave my kids’ life and their future in the hands of the music industry?”
Because of this, he felt that he needed to come up with a different solution that would make him feel far safer.
“I know exactly what I want,” he stated. “I know exactly how much I want right now. I know exactly what I would need to live out the rest of my life, and if I get that and I’m satisfied with that and I’m content, I’m not looking for more.”
T-Pain was thrilled that HarbourView Equity will "help preserve the legacy" of his music after the deal was finalized in February 2025.
“This catalog represents years of hard work, creativity, and unforgettable moments,” in a statement posted on the business's website, he further stated, “and I’m grateful to see it continue to reach new heights. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.”
In addition, it was difficult to refuse the substantial sum of money.
“I was like, ‘Why would I sell y'all this?’” in November, T-Pain remembered this when speaking on the Club Shay Shay podcast. “And they and they were like, "Look, here's how much you're making per year off of this. We're going to give you a hundred years’ worth of money right here all at once.’”
When it was presented that way, the response was a quick and simple, "Okay."
