In the face of devastating news, the Dodgers community is uniting. The MLB team offered their condolences to the bereaved couple when bullpen pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla Vesia announced the death of their baby girl, Sterling Sol Vesia, on November 7.
The Dodgers' official Instagram account commented, "Thinking of you all and sending so much love," in the comments section of Alex and Kayla's Instagram post, which featured a black-and-white photo of them holding their baby's hand and a statement expressing their "pain" after her death on October 26.
"We are here for you both always," added the LA Dodger Wives, the official organization for the players' spouses.
Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman's wife, Chelsea Freeman, also expressed her sorrow by writing, “Love you guys so much. I can’t stop thinking about you and your beautiful angel.”
In addition to saying that they “cherish every second” they spent with Sterling, Alex and Kayla, who had revealed their pregnancy in April, also highlighted how grateful they were for the affection they had gotten in the last few weeks.
"Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time," after writing to the team, Alex's departure from the 2025 World Series was revealed on October 23. "Our baseball family showed up for us, and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them."
Meanwhile, Alex and Kayla gave thanks to the larger baseball community and the Toronto Blue Jays, the Dodgers' World Series rivals, who displayed their affection for Alex by wearing his number 51 on the side of their hats during game three.
"Thank you, Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support,” the Vesias went on. “We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort."
