Do not lose your cool over this information. In order to make sure they are creating the greatest game for its customers, Rockstar Games declared that Grand Theft Auto VI would be postponed until November 19, 2026.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait,” on November 6, they posted on X, “but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
The publisher of the video game expressed gratitude to their followers for their “patience and support,” proceeding, “While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”
It will be 13 years since a new Grand Theft Auto game was released, marking the second postponement of the newest entry into the vast Grand Theft Auto universe. GTA VI was originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2025, but it was postponed to May 2026 and now to November.
One fan wrote in the comments on X, "I PUT A WHOLE WEEK OFF FOR MAY 26th," expressing their displeasure about yet another delay in the game's release date.
Another gushed, “I’ve been waiting so long I no longer care about crime. I’m just paying my taxes and going to bed early now.”
Brands joined part of the fun as well; Domino's said, “Call us if you need help delivering.”
Since the first Grand Theft Auto game was launched in 1997, GTA VI is scarcely the first game in the series to suffer from a lengthy delay.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was postponed by seven days in 2002 in order to accommodate fan demand for extra discs, whereas Grand Theft Auto III was postponed in 2001 in response to the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.
Grand Theft Auto IV and V likewise experienced delays; IV was rescheduled from October 2006 to April 2008, and V was released eight months after its initial 2013 release date.
