Whoopi Goldberg lands new acting project. Together with the show's executive producer Brian Teta, the View cohost revealed that she will be leaving the daily broadcast to embark on another project that will allow her to showcase her acting abilities.
“We’re going to lose you for a couple of days," during the Behind the Table podcast's September 16 episode, Teta told Goldberg, "Because you’re going to be doing this movie.”

Actually, Goldberg's chair will be occupied on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays by Lisa Ling, Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd, and Debbie Matenopoulos, all of whom were cohosts during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Joy Behar will also moderate the discussions.
“Joy’s up for it,” Teta stated. “She’s always excited to moderate.”
In November 2025, the 70-year-old Goldberg was absent from the ABC show for a few days as she filmed her appearance on the popular Italian soap opera Un Posto al Sole. This isn’t the first time Goldberg, who joined The View in 2007, has put her hosting duties on hold to focus on her acting career.
Goldberg has already acknowledged that she frequently considers quitting the talk show permanently, even though she went back to her desired position once the assignment was finished.
Prior to the historic 30th season debut of The View on September 8, she stated to People, “[It's] a little bit shocking that I’m here as long as I have been.”
