Despite this, Huawei is betting that its high-end, premium devices—such as the Mate XT—will appeal to wealthy consumers who prioritize unique design and exclusivity over software compatibility.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Okey Kanu, disclosed these plans on Monday during a press briefing in Umuahia, following the State Executive Council meeting. He stated that the projects are part of Governor Alex Otti’s broader vision to modernize the state capital and attract investment.

One of the key components of the urban renewal initiative is the improvement of public transportation within the city. To achieve this, the government has begun constructing ten modern bus shelters along Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard. These bus stops are intended to provide shelter for commuters and ensure more organized and efficient public transport.

Kanu explained that the government recognizes the need to ease the movement of people and goods, and these new bus shelters will contribute to achieving that goal.

In a bid to decongest the city center and create a more structured commercial environment, the government has also announced the relocation of the Isigate Market to Afara.
