We just recalled one innovative idea around 2007 when one company promised to map many key areas in Nigeria on Google and Yahoo maps. Based on cache on their site (the site is no more), “…MapNTL is an online mapping and location-based services that delivers more online maps, point-to-point driving directions and geo-spatial searches to more businesses and consumers than any other supplier in Nigeria…”

MapNTL.com is a wholly owned subsidiary of Spatial Technologies Ltd based in Ikeja Lagos business district. MapNTL.com was created in October 2007 as a business directory with location element for businesses in Lagos and individuals who require direction from Point A to point B across Lagos and Nigeria using the Lagos street digital map and Nigerian transport highway map created by Spatial Technologies Ltd. MapNTL.com allows users to find their location, access street level maps, get driving directions and locate nearby points of interest including airports, hotels, restaurants, banks and ATMs. MapNTL.com also provides mapping services to business web sites. The company founded by Ireti Ajala is no more. Who knows what happened to it? Was it a victim of the recession or what. We want to know if it changed its services or renamed itself.
