The CEO of Athena Foods is a scientist who – capitalising upon a successful career with Kraft Foods (US) – chose to return to Ghana to apply his skills and knowledge and make a contribution to his home country. On identifying an opportunity to enter the juice processing market, and building on a successful World Bank pineapple cultivation initiative, he invested his personal assets to start Athena Foods which today processes several varieties of pineapples and oranges. The concentrates are mostly exported with a small portion retained for local consumption.
The company’s customer base has grown through word of mouth rather than the company aggressively seeking out new customers. They have also recently signed on Coca Cola as a customer.
“We produce high quality all natural tropical juices and concentrates according to international standards and specifications for distribution in existing channels at competitive prices.”
