Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams' husband, fires back at critics accusing Serena of skin bleaching.

Alexis Ohanian, the spouse of Serena Williams, just made a fantastic comeback. The 42-year-old Reddit cofounder recently responded to internet trolls who accused his wife of bleaching her complexion.

On January 6, the tennis legend posted family images from sister Venus Williams' wedding on social media, with Alexis standing next to his favorite women: Serena in a white gown and daughters Olympia, 8, and Adira, 2, wearing similar blue outfits.

The renowned athlete wrote the following as a caption for the social media images: “Joy does not always roar sometimes it whispers. It important to savor those sweet moments… I love this picture, so I wanted to share it with you.”

On the other hand, some internet users conjectured that Serena had lightened her skin tone with cosmetics. Alexis swiftly defended her after receiving unfavorable remarks about her appearance, adding alongside her X post, "Where are all the comments from idiots who don't understand how photography lighting works?"

Additionally, when one individual asserted, "Alexis wants Black people to believe we don’t know what photography lighting looks like vs blatant skin lightening," in response, he stated, "Or: photos from the same event can look different based on lighting."

Serena has previously refuted claims that she bleached her skin.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion responded to accusations that she intentionally changed her skin tone during an Instagram Live in December 2024 after posting a video of herself at a school function with Alexis and their two daughters.

Serena shared her thoughts on the subject with the audience on the Live, “No, for you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin.”

She continued by saying that she was wearing "stage makeup" when she filmed the video in November 2024 while working at her daughter's performance.

“Everyone’s like, 'Ooh, she bleached her skin,’" she stated. "I’m a dark, Black woman, and I love who I am, and I love how I look.”
