Following the results of a cancer screening test, Christy Carlson Romano provides medical update

Christy Carlson Romano is gradually improving her health. Christy is giving more details about what she's discovered since the Even Stevens star revealed in February that she and her husband Brendan Rooney had both undergone cancer screening tests, which "did not come back negative" for her and results negative for him.

“I’ve got my tests back, my initial tests back, and it is definitely better than what I feared,” in an Instagram video from March 2, she stated. “But I do have a lot more tests to take and I’m going to be meeting with an oncologist this week. One thing is for sure—over the last year and change I had two very significant health scares. I think the universe has been showing me that I need to take my health seriously.”

The 41-year-old also discussed how writing has become "extremely cathartic" for her through this period, to the point where she has chosen to start a Substack. In addition to other "musings," the content will chronicle Christy's "lifestyle shift" as she prioritizes her health.

In her words, “It’s just going to be me.”

In fact, Christy provided more details about her test results and her future steps in her first Substack post.

Christy's entry states that she had a "circulating tumor cell blood test," which revealed and captured "abnormal cells" in her body. Her doctor concluded that she may already have a stageable cancer because of the presence of these cells.

Fortunately, a follow-up PET scan revealed no cancer or tumors. Christy stated that she would now be going through a procedure to attempt and get rid of the aberrant cells.

“The protocol,” she recorded, “is a process of supplements, eight weeks of immune-boosting treatments, and a five-day fast to essentially starve out the circulating tumor cells. Think of a tumor (if I have one) as a tree and those cells as seeds that need to be filtered out.”

She added that she would have to make "life-lasting changes," such as keeping an eye on what she consumes, drinks, and applies to her skin.

Overall, though, Christy—who has two daughters with Brendan, Isabella, 9, and Sofia, 7—is appreciative of her village, both locally and globally.

“Seriously, thank you very, very much for your support,” in her video, she ended. “It has got me through a really hard time.”

When Christy initially disclosed the findings of her screening test in February, she stated that a PET scan was necessary as her next course of action because the results did not correspond to a formal diagnosis.

Despite the Disney Channel alum's reluctance to draw hasty judgments, the findings were startling.

"I'm sure people think I'm overreacting," in a video posted on Instagram on February 17, Christy spoke while crying. "But I'm not, because cancer is pretty serious. Man, I have two little girls."

Christy was attempting to concentrate on the good even if the results made her feel "nervous and a bit scared."

"When you're somebody like me, you gotta take life a day at a time, really be grateful for all the amazing stuff around you," Christy stated. "So, know that I have a loving family around me to support me, and gonna keep fighting for answers and eventually giving you updates."
