Alison Hammond is recuperating following an on-air medical emergency. Hammond suddenly left the camera in the middle of a section on the October 2 program of This Morning.
Veterinarian Dr. Scott Miller called co-host Dermot O'Leary for a phone-in segment, and while O'Leary finished the conversation alone, Hammond seemed to run off camera.
Later in the show, after a commercial break, O'Leary talked about Hammond's abrupt departure.
“Ali is just a little unwell, so she’s just had to duck out,” on the British morning program, he clarified. “Hopefully she’ll be back in a sec.”
But as the broadcast went on, O'Leary informed viewers that Hammond would not be coming back, saying, "Ali's feeling a little unwell, so I'll be here for the rest of the show."
A few hours later, Hammond shared a video from her hospital bed on Instagram, allaying followers' fears.
“Hello my lovelies, I know you’re all worried about me,” on the Instagram Story she stated. “Honestly, I am fine, first of all, but I’m getting my little ticker checked out.”
Hammond acknowledged, patting her chest close to her heart, “I’m having a little bit of a palpitation and now I’m getting it all checked out but I think I’m OK.”
The 51-year-old was still waiting for medical professionals to address her health condition, although she expressed hope that it was only a "panic attack."
“Thank you for all your lovely messages,” she underlined. “I’m so sorry I left you. I would never normally do that. I would never leave a TV show, so you know I wasn’t very well. But hopefully I am going to be alright, and the doctors are so lovely and they’re checking me out and hopefully, everything is going to be fine. I love you.”
Additionally, the presenter of The Great British Bake Off made sure she was feeling much better by joking that she still looked fantastic from her hospital bed.
“I’m rocking it,” she made a joke. “I’ve still got my makeup on from this morning. Lush.”
