Mike McCarthy is throwing a flag over this hot mic moment with Aaron Rodgers. After a heated argument with the quarterback during the Pittsburgh Steelers' game against the Cleveland Browns on October 1, the coach apologized.
"Communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but everybody's competing on the field," following the Steelers' 27-24 defeat, he stated at a press conference. "I think what's said on the field, the way I grew up in this game, usually stays on the field. That's not the case today. I understand that."

He also apologized for the uncomfortable situation, saying, "Any negative communication on my part, I wish I wouldn't use those words."
In the first quarter, Rodgers waved toward the sideline and shouted, "What the f--k? Call it!" McCarthy seemed to mutter, "F--king a--hole" in reply. Their tension appeared to ease later, when McCarthy patted Rodgers on the helmet after his fourth-quarter quarterback sneak.
Rodgers also talked more about the shouting that resulted from the delayed communication.
"It was loud," in the post-game conference, he gave an explanation. "It was definitely a good crowd tonight. It was loud. So some of the calls, it was hard to hear for sure."
The 42-year-old, who spent two seasons with the New York Jets before signing with the Pennsylvania team in 2025, accepted responsibility for his own mistakes made during the game.
"I have to look at the film, but it wasn't our cleanest game all the way around," Rodgers clarified. "They're a good defense, so you got to give them credit, but they were getting after us on some of the long-yardage stuff. We weren't winning a bunch and I missed a couple throws I usually hit."
