America Ferrera Shares What She Knows About a Potential Barbie 2.

Despite being a Barbie girl, America Ferrera has no knowledge of the Barbie 2 universe. Ferrera acknowledged that she's just Ken, er, Gloria—and doesn't have any updates, despite the fact that the sequel to Greta Gerwig's movie, which is based on the Mattel toy and stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has been in the works for years.

“I don’t know anything about Barbie 2,” Ferrera and co-star Paula Pell acknowledged this in an exclusive interview with news organizations for The Cat in the Hat. “I don’t have to pretend like I don’t know anything because I actually don’t know anything.”

Ferrera's revelation coincides with rumors that a sequel to the 2023 movie would be stalled because of continuing salary talks involving Warner Bros. and the stars of the first movie.

Ferrera, who is married to Ryan Piers Williams and has two children, Sebastian, 8, and Lucia, 6, is thrilled to play Mother Carmen in the Bill Hader-led movie.

“The Cat in the Hat is so iconic,” the former cast member of Ugly Betty thought. “I grew up and I have two littles and I’ve read The Cat in the Hat to them a ton. Actually, my favorite part of the book was always the very last line of the book which was, ‘What would you do if your mother asked you?’ And I’d always turn to my kids and be like, ‘Would you tell me the truth?’”

In the present, Ferrera acknowledged that accepting the part felt as simple as counting one fish, two fish, red fish, and blue fish.

“Getting to say to my kids I’m going to be the voice of the mom in The Cat in the Hat, I did it for them,” she thought. “But a little bit for me.”

Additionally, Ferrera's children have already given her a positive review for the movie, which also stars Bowen Yang and Quinta Brunson and opens in theaters today, November 6.

“We saw it yesterday,” she disclosed. “We had the best time. They loved it. It was really sweet.”

Naturally, Ferrera is unsure if her children would actually inform her if The Cat in the Hat paid her a visit.

“I can’t tell if it gave me cool mom points or if they’re like, ‘Ugh, mom that’s you,’” she made a joke. “Because I am such a mom in this, too, where they were like, ‘We’ve heard the same things.’”
