Billy Crudup is almost open about his private life. The Morning Show host shared a unique glimpse into his life with his ex-girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker, revealing that they have decided to continue focusing on co-parenting their 21-year-old son William Atticus Parker following their challenging split.
“Without commenting on any of our … Our adoration for our son is boundless,” when asked where he and Mary-Louise are at the moment, Billy responded to The Times in an interview that was published on November 27. “He has, through the mash-up of the two of us, been endowed with superpowers for theatricality.”
The 57-year-old revealed that William has already produced a number of low-budget movies and is a prolific actor, director, and writer.
“He’s such a badass,” Billy uttered out. “Mary-Louise and I appeared in most of his films.”
Billy and Mary-Louise, 61, dated from 1996 until 2003, when he broke up with the Weeds alum, who was seven months pregnant with William at the time, to start a three-year relationship with Claire Danes after they met on the set of Stage Beauty (2004).
Mary-Louise only made nice comments following Billy's marriage to Naomi Watts in 2023, despite the fact that the two have hardly discussed their breakup.
"I wish them well," at that point, she informed The Guardian. "And absolutely, I honestly of course wish them every happiness because that's my son's father. So, I'm happy for them. I'm happy they found each other."
As per her 2015 memoir Dear Mr. You, which was published as a collection of letters to men throughout her life, the Angels in America actress had previously discussed their romance and breakup. Following her separation, Mary-Louise lost her cool with a cab driver and wrote a letter to him asking her to get out of his vehicle.
"I am alone," she penned. “Look, see? I am pregnant and alone. It hurts to even breathe. I’m trying to get through it but I’m by myself every night and every morning and no one, nothing helps.”
Billy, on the other hand, acknowledged that he was reluctant to discuss the breakup in the first place, but he did so in the past via 2004.
"First and foremost it is personal, painful and involves an infant," in an email that was included in a 2004 feature on him, he tells The New York Times, "and does not deserve to be exploited to sate the appetites of circulation counters and bored readers."
"I have never indulged our society's misguided notion that my personal life is relevant to my work," Billy went on, "so any reporting surrounding that is necessarily hearsay, speculation or fantasy. Each published report is based only on the trade of suffering."
Although Claire has also moved on, the Homeland star has previously thought back on her love with Billy. She married Hugh Dancy in 2009, and the two of them have children: Cyrus, 12, Rowan, 7, and a baby girl they welcomed in 2023.
"That was really hard. I didn’t know how to not do that," in 2015, she stated this on The Howard Stern Show. "I was just in love with him, and needed to explore that, and I was 24."
The Emmy winner continued, "I didn't quite know what those consequences would be."
