Brandon Frankel, Gabourey Sidibe's spouse, discloses his thyroid cancer diagnosis.

The recovery of Brandon Frankel is underway. Gabourey Sidibe's spouse, who was diagnosed with stage 1 papillary thyroid cancer, said he is recuperating from surgery.

“I found it very early because I pushed for an ultrasound my doctor didn’t think I needed,” Brandon posted photos at the hospital with Gabourey on Instagram on February 20. “I refused to ‘wait and see.’ I refused to come back in 6–9 months.”

He continued, “I made the calls. I leveraged connections. I chased cancellations. I made a LOT of noise. It worked.”

Although Brandon, who married the American Horror Story star in 2021, acknowledged that the cancer removal procedure "went well" and that he is "OK for now," he clarified that he would continue to take his health carefully.

“Pathology showed a more aggressive cell type (tall cell), so there’s more monitoring ahead,” he added. “But we caught it early. I’m extremely proactive so I can be around for my family.”

Additionally, Brandon stressed how "grateful" and "lucky" he is that Gabourey was there to help him and their twins, Cooper and Maya, who are 22 months old, during his medical struggle.

“My wife carried our family through all of this—holding everything down while I handled appointments, surgery, and recovery,” he divulged. “I don’t know how anyone does this without that kind of love and support.”

Naturally, throughout their relationship, Brandon has not held back when expressing his love for Gabourey. In fact, he sounded off in the comments section with pride after she shared photos of their children on the set of her first feature film, Be Happy.

“Getting to watch them visit you at work,” in the November Instagram post, he stated, “and you simultaneously be a boss lady and the best mom is such an honor.”

Additionally, Gabourey affirmed his unwavering support for the movie by telling People after its debut earlier this month, “My husband was like, ‘I wanna make sure that they have pics on set so that they don’t feel like you left them out.”
