Chance the Rapper Opens Up About the "Hardest Part" of Kirsten Corley Split.

Chance the Rapper is aware of the sacredness of family. The "No Problem" rapper thinks that acclimating to a new co-parenting relationship has been the most difficult aspect of going through a divorce with his estranged wife Kirsten Corley, with whom he shares daughters Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5.

“The reality of it is everybody deals with their family different," Chance clarified when he spoke on the New Rory & Mal show on August 14. "The family I come from is very, very close. It’s very important for us and for her and her family for us to be tight. So we still travel together, we still family forever. It’s just a different format of it.”

The 32-year-old did point out that it is still "weird" between the ex-couple sometimes, even though they managed to spend time together for their children after announcing their split in April 2024 after five years of marriage.

“I ain’t gonna act like it’s not tough," Chance accepted. "I ain’t gonna act like it’s perfect and we shook hands and dipped. It’s weird. I think the toughness is that it’s a reality. I think that’s the toughest part."

He went on, "You might feel like you’re over it and you’re not over it. Or you might be used to a certain pattern of operating, and because it don’t work like that, you have to allow yourself grace to deal with that and operate in reality.”

Chance stressed that he and Kirsten, who is also 32, had managed the transition successfully. "Not just for the sake of our kids, but for the sake of each other’s sanity." he said, "We try and always remember the importance of supporting each other, loving each other"

The Grammy winner, who married the former model in 2019, stated that he still sees Kirsten "at least every other week" because of their children. He had first met Kirsten when he was nine years old.

“It’s the rest of your life you will be connected, no matter what, emotionally, to this being,” he stated. “Y’all in a Venn diagram. Y’all both connected to the same thing."

The fact that Chance and Kirsten agree on the kind of relationship they want to have after their split makes him pleased in the end.

"I’m not saying we the most emotionally mature people," the "Holy" rapper stated, "but we both at least have that vantage point that allows us to never go too far in any direction. And I’m grateful that I got somebody that is like that.”
