A fresh dawn is being ridden into by Chanel West Coast. Following leaving the MTV program, the former host of Ridiculousness made her country music debut in 2025. She published her new song, "Giddy Up," with DJ Flict on February 13.

“‘Giddy Up’ is a country-pop record, but it's really about bridging worlds,” in a statement to Fanfix that was distributed to media outlets, Chanel clarified. “I wanted it to feel familiar to country fans while still hitting for pop, hip-hop, and dance listeners too. It's meant to be the kind of song you put on to have a good time. Music should bring people together, and with 'Giddy Up,' I just wanted to make something that feels good no matter what genre you usually listen to.”
The song does, in fact, have a somewhat hip-hop beat in addition to the country components in the lyrics. The chorus features the somewhat explicit lines, "Giddy up / Get up on that thang," and "Tighten up on them reigns."
Afterwards, Chanel starts singing. “Tell me how you want it, babe / I can do it the cowgirl way.”
She sings, "Now left / Right / Hold tight / Bucks up and let it slide," after declaring that she will take her lover "to the Alamo," continuing the country vibe.
Although "Giddy Up" undoubtedly represents a new chapter in her career, Chanel's musical endeavors began in April with the publication of her debut country song, "Lil' Bit Country." The 37-year-old, who has a 3-year-old son named Bowie Breeze with boyfriend Dom Fenison, also stated at the time that she had been looking forward to changing careers for a while.
“I started homeschool at 16 to work and pursue my music career full time and have been working on it ever since,” in a statement at that point, Chanel said, “following my passion while experimenting as an artist—and I'm so excited for people to really hear me sing for the first time."
Chanel has also made it clear that country music holds a special place in her heart, particularly as a mother, even if she has been aware of the need to adapt the genre with her new approach.
“Country music was the soundtrack to so many great summertime memories and now that I have a little one of my own,” she continued. “It's so special to have this full circle moment and create new country music memories.”
