Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa are appreciative of their positive karma. The pair, who have been dating since June, shared the endearing reasons why their relationship is flourishing as well as another private glimpse into their bond.
“People always say, ‘Oh God, is it difficult?’ Honestly, it’s easy,” in a joint conversation at the Dancers Against Cancer Gala on October 21, Chris, 32, made an exclusive revelation. “We were friends first, and everyone likes their friends.”
In fact, it was during season 24 of Celebrity Big Brother UK in April when the two initially grew close. The Love Island star said at the time that their relationship was "platonic." But JoJo, 22, acknowledged that almost two months later, their friendship developed into a love one.
The Dance Moms alum who was given the humanitarian award for the dance event acknowledges that their friendship laid the groundwork for their relationship, but she also acknowledges another kindhearted person.
“I think the universe literally said, ‘Oh yeah, by the way. You two belong together, you’ll figure it out eventually,” JoJo clarified. “And we did! We’ve both been in relationships prior, but I think that’s why this feels easy because it’s very right. We have fun and we keep things light.”
Actually, when they differ on certain issues, the two stick to that playful approach.
“He actually told me once, ‘We’re not going to argue, because what’s the point? We’ll end up fine anyway, so why waste time fighting?’” in his British accent, the singer of "Karma" spoke about Chris' advise. “And that stuck with me.”
And because they happened to cross paths, JoJo feels that their compatibility has allowed her to reach a new stage in her quest for self-love.
“I’m just happier,” she said. “I feel like I’ve finally settled into myself. I’ve tried so many different looks over the years, but now I just feel like me. I have friends and family, and especially [Chris], who makes me feel like I’m 100 percent myself, whether I’m dressed up like this or waking up in the morning looking rough.”
As the "Guilty Pleasure" singer continues to advance her career, including receiving recognition at the Dancers Against Cancer Gala, Chris has undoubtedly been her staunchest supporter. He unexpectedly told JoJo that he would present her with the humanitarian award a few days prior to their joint appearance at the ceremony.
“You should be very proud,” at the time, Chris said to JoJo, who laughed in response. “I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t be laughing right now but you’re so cute.”
