Fátima Bosch Fernández of Mexico has been crowned Miss Universe 2025, just days after the 25-year-old faced public criticism from a pageant official.

Flowers have been sent to Miss Mexico. On November 21, Fátima Bosch Fernández won the title of Miss Universe. Miss Thailand Praveener Singh, 29, came in second, and Miss Venezuela Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser, 25, came in third.
It was not an easy path to the throne. Pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisi publicly chastised the 25-year-old earlier in the competition, calling her " dumb " for failing to fulfill a commitment during a pre-sash ceremony. Her competitors staged a walkout in solidarity as she was led away by security.
“I just want to let my country know, I'm not afraid to make my voice heard,” she stated in a Spanish-language interview that was posted on Instagram. “It's here stronger than ever. I have a purpose. I have things to say.”
“I’m not a doll to be made up, styled and have my clothes changed,” she went on. “I came here to be a voice for all the women and all the girls who fight for causes and to tell my country that I’m completely committed to that.”
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum praised Fatima for standing up for herself in the face of hardship when she placed first.
“It seems to me that it is an example of how women should raise our voices,” according to NBC News, the president informed reporters. “We women look more beautiful when we raise our voice and participate, because that has to do with the recognition of our rights.”
As reported by NBC News, two judges from this year's Miss Universe pageant resigned. One of them accused the organizers of manipulating the competition, while the other threatened to sue them.
Additionally, Gabrielle Henry of Jamaica had a horrifying fall off the stage during a preliminary evening gown category. The competitor approached stage left while wearing a stunning, sparkling orange gown on the runway, and she tumbled off the elevated platform entirely.
Before Gabrielle was taken away in a stretcher, footage of the collision that was posted on social media showed others racing to her aid.
Raúl Rocha, a co-owner of the pageant, gave a positive report on the Miss Jamaica contestant's health after the startling incident.
“I have just left the hospital where she is being treated,” the piece on Instagram stated “I was there with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones, and she is under good care. She will remain under observation for the rest of the night, and we will remain in touch with her family to support her.”
He went on, “Our prayers go out for her prompt recovery."
