Of course, Jack Osbourne isn't insane. The 40-year-old claims that both he and his mother, Sharon Osbourne, had a lot of ideas both before and after they revealed that an artificial intelligence Avatar version of the late Ozzy Osbourne was being developed.
“Here's the thing,” Jack responded to a fan who brought up the criticism the revelation caused during a broadcast on YouTube on May 22. “It's going to be so tasteful what we're doing. It's not going to be f--king lame. It's really complex what we're doing—this isn't just like hooking up an image of my dad to ChatGPT. It is. This is some high-level technology that we're going to be working with.”
Just one week prior, Jack, the youngest of Ozzy's six children, and his mother announced the planned digital Prince of Darkness at Licensing Expo 2026 in Las Vegas.
With the aid of Hyperreal and Proto Hologram, Black Sabbath fans will be able to engage with an AI version of Ozzy that possesses his "digital DNA," voice, likeness, and movement starting late this summer.
As reported by Rolling Stone, Sharon clarified at the May 20 event, “You can ask Ozzy anything, and he will answer you in his own voice—and the answers will be what Ozzy would have said. People can talk to him and he will talk back.”
Additionally, his family claims that the digital version of Ozzy is very similar to the authentic.
“It’s kind of scary how it’s really very accurate,” Jack and his mother both spoke. “He will exist digitally as himself for as long as we have computers.”
Remington Scott, CEO of Hyperreal, described how AI Ozzy was created and how its unique technology will enable the avatar to communicate with followers in real time.
“This isn’t pre-rendered content playing on a loop,” he informed Rolling Stone. “It’s a living performance, built exclusively from authenticated source material: curated, consented, and controlled by the people closest to Ozzy.”
However, Jack tried to reassure some fans who were worried about whether the late Ozzy would approve of the technical project.
“It’s something that I think my dad would be into,” at the YouTube live feed, he stated, “because we actually talked about it be before he passed about doing something like this. So, yeah, I know he would be into this.”
