Jessie J is showing incredible strength and vulnerability as she continues her battle with early breast cancer. In a heartfelt update, she shared that she recently underwent surgery and is now home resting while awaiting results. Her Instagram post offered a raw, honest glimpse into the past 48 hours featuring sweet moments with her son Sky Safir, who sat by her hospital bed, and her partner Channan Safir Colman, who was right there holding her hand in a hospital bed and her partner kissing her forehead as she awaited surgery.
“I am home now,” Jessie said in the caption of her June 23 Instagram image, “to rest and wait for my results.”
She explained part of her treatment to her toddler in a gentle, loving way, saying, “So the water and the blood comes out of mommy’s booby and comes out of the tube and into the bottle.” Jessie also thanked her medical team and the support from loved ones, adding, “I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through… We all got this!”
“I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through,” Jessie stated in her caption. “Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit.”
The singer underlined her hope, too, adding, “Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”
Jessie used that optimistic outlook to inform her fans of her cancer diagnosis earlier this month.
"I was diagnosed with early breast cancer," in a June 3 Instagram video, she stated. "Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word 'early.'"
Earlier this month, when announcing her diagnosis, she kept her trademark humor alive, joking, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.” But beneath the levity, there’s deep courage and connection: she’s making space for others going through similar struggles and offering solidarity every step of the way.
Jessie also added comedy into her health report, as she proceeded, "It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music."
And in spite of the challenging feelings associated with her cancer diagnosis, the “Bang Bang” outlined her desire to be "open" on her journey.
“I do not talk about it enough," she revealed. "I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book."
She added that she wishes to support those who are fighting cancer. "It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse—that's the bit that kills me."
