Joe Biden is recovering. After having Mohs surgery to remove skin cancer from his skull, the former president is doing well, his spokeswoman said NBC News on September 4.
According to SkinCancer.org, the 82-year-old had a noticeable cut on his head during an outing in Delaware on August 22. The spokesperson did not specify when the procedure, which is used to treat basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas, the two most common types of skin cancer, was performed.
As per NBC News, former President Kevin O'Connor stated as much in a memo at the time.
“As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma. All cancerous tissue was successfully removed," as per NBC News, former President Kevin O'Connor stated as much in a memo at the time. "No further treatment is required."
Biden disclosed in May that he is presently fighting an "aggressive form" of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones in addition to skin cancer.
"Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms," NBC News acquired an announcement from the politician's office. "While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians."
Biden discussed his and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, reactions to the health update after the announcement.
"Cancer touches us all," at the time, he posted on Instagram. "Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support."
