JoJo Siwa Never Thought She’d Date a Man Before Chris Hughes.
JoJo Siwa is having fun as she traces her path to Chris Hughes. The Dance Moms alum described how she found love with a man after years of believing a straight relationship was never going to be for her, more than a year after announcing her romance with her Celebrity Big Brother U.K. costar.
“I've always been grossed out by dudes,” Siwa discussed it on the Wildmen podcast's September 8 episode. “I've been talking about my boy best friends. They are conventionally hot men, right?”
“Chris is a very conventionally hot dude,” she persisted in hosting podcasts with Brendan Columbus and Dylan Sprouse. “[But] I thought [he] was just another friend. Once I realized that I wasn't grossed out by the thought of him being a boy, I was like, ‘Whoa.’ It was weird because I'd never thought that before.”

The 23-year-old was particularly taken aback when she started to feel drawn to Hughes after meeting him on Celebrity Big Brother U.K. in 2025 because she had never experienced a physical connection with any of her male best pals.
“I just never thought it was possible,” she acknowledged. “And people always say, ‘Oh, you know what if something happened with Chris, who would you date? Would you go for boys or girls?’ And I say, ‘Well, at this point, I have no right to say.' You can find interviews of me where I have sworn on how gross dudes are and I'll never be with one and how I'm head over heels in love with one.’”
She believes that Hughes may be the exception to her rule at the moment.
As she pointed out, “I really do think that Chris is very much so the special dude.”
Additionally, Siwa, who previously revealed that she felt under pressure to "label" her sexual orientation after coming out, provided more details about her experience.
“I put the label pansexual on it,” when Siwa appeared as Wildman, she gave an explanation. "Then it was confusing. And so, I was like, ‘All right, I'll be a lesbian.’ But I said, ‘OK, I'll be gay. It's just easier to say gay but I'm a lesbian if we all need to know the technical terms."
In the midst of her affair with Hughes, the Nickelodeon alum has now been free to rethink her sexuality.
“I just am the umbrella term of queer or pansexual,” Siwa clarified, “because yeah, I fell in love with a boy. Here we are.”
