For JoJo Siwa, the program must continue. The vocalist of "Karma" was admitted to the hospital in the days preceding her Black Friday concert on November 28 at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, because of excruciating stomach pain.
“Long story short, every time that I've been dancing the last couple of days, or even just walking—anything—my stomach would really, really hurt,” she stated in a video that was uploaded on TikTok on November 29. “I don't know why, but it passed, and so I was like, ‘Maybe it's that time of the month. Maybe it's a cramp. I don't know.”
However, the 22-year-old's uneasiness flared up again and got worse the morning before JoJo's performance. In fact, she revealed that bathing herself in an attempt to ease her discomfort actually made things "100 times worse."
“I was like, ‘I have to get out immediately,’” she remembered, “because I knew I was gonna black out, and I felt like I was gonna throw up.”
JoJo's mother, Jessalynn Siwa, contacted paramedics and assisted her in getting dressed. When the Dance Moms alum arrived at the hospital, she informed the doctors that she would comply with their instructions, but she also mentioned her upcoming engagement. Luckily, she was able to perform as scheduled, and an ultrasound later on showed the reason for her bad luck.
“One of my ovaries had a cyst on it that burst and was bleeding into my stomach,” she clarified. “So that's what was causing the excruciating pain.”
JoJo informed her fans that she was "not 100 percent yet," but that her doctors had assured her that the issue "should stop on its own." She also mentioned that she had a follow-up appointment the following week.
“The good news is we know what it is, and I think that brought a lot of peace of mind to me,” she continued. “Now I know what the pain is, and so I know [to] take a second. It'll settle and it'll calm down.”
