Khloe Kardashian Shares the Spark That Inspired Her Weight Loss Journey

Concerning her weight reduction makeover, Khloe Kardashian is being honest. The Kardashians alum discussed her sometimes unhealthy relationship with food and talked about how she lost weight. She acknowledged that her breakup with Lamar Odom was the catalyst for her weight loss.

“When I was younger, I used to binge eat,” on the March 18 episode of her podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land, Khloe responded to a query from a fan regarding losing weight. “I went to therapy about it. It was something like any emotional thing. I turned to food and just there was no stopping me.”

“I would eat, eat, eat, literally get sick, then feel disgusted with myself or how much I ate,” the 41-year-old added. “Then be in such a shame spiral that I start eating again because I'm in such shame. So, it was like this vicious cycle.”

The founder of Good American didn't understand she wanted to make a change until Khloe and Kendrick Lamar's marriage fell apart in 2013.

“My divorce was really the catalyst to why I became obsessed, in a healthy way, with working out,” regards to their split, she stated that it wasn't completed until 2016, after Lamar had recovered from a nearly fatal substance overdose. “I realized during my marriage that I ate so much, and I would eat my feelings, and I didn't like how that made me feel.”

Khloe made a commitment to change her eating habits after realizing they were having "a ripple effect" on other areas of her life, such as poor skin and low self-esteem.

“I was like, I'm over this, I'm over feeling this way. I'm over never feeling like I could be in a bathing suit,” the reality star stated. “I compared myself to everyone. People compared me to my sisters… something just sort of awakens inside of you that you're like I don't want to live like this anymore.”

Khloe began exercising with the intention of getting toned and feeling comfortable revealing her belly, but she admitted that the first six months were "torture" and that she "started slow." However, Khloe started off doing out alone twice a week before hiring a trainer, and she has since improved her consistency.

“The first six months to a year, it's just uncomfortable because you feel you're still insecure, you're busting your a-- in the gym, you're not really seeing a big shift on the scale, but you got to keep going,” the Revenge Body star revealed. “For me, it was mental that kept me going. I loved how I felt. I felt so accomplished that I did something I set out to do. But for me, it was baby steps.”

“I honestly feel that the more you exercise,” the mom of two went on to say, “the clearer your mind will feel, and the stronger you will feel mentally.”

She also made it clear that she wasn't just hoping for bodily change.

“Going to therapy is so helpful,” Khloe stated. “It did wonders for me when I went through breakups and [was] not feeling like myself, feeling like people took a part of me away.”

“Just talking out your problems,” she continued, “you really start to get this closure on things, and you start to get strength that you forgot you had.”

It's great that Khloe isn't the only famous person to openly disclose her weight loss struggle.
