Lamar Odom is dealing with fresh legal issues. Based on arrest records accessed by news outlets, the two-time NBA champion was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated on January 17 in Las Vegas.
According to the records, Lamar, 46, was also accused of failing to maintain lane and changing lanes improperly, as well as going more than 41 miles over the posted limit. The lawsuit will have a hearing on March 17.
The basketball player, who was married to Khloe Kardashian from 2009 to 2016, was previously charged with misdemeanor DUI following an arrest in Los Angeles in August 2013, which led to a one-year suspension of his driver's license. According to news reports at the time, he filed a no guilty plea that December and was sentenced to 36 months of probation, pay $1,814 in fines, and finish an alcohol education program.
Lamar was discovered unconscious in October 2015 after nearly dying from a heroin overdose at a Nevada brothel two years later. Following his hospital stay, he suffered six heart attacks and twelve strokes while in a coma for three days.
During a recent in-person reunion with his ex—their first encounter in nine years—Lamar talked about the experience and mentioned that he quit using drugs because of his children, Destiny, 27, and Lamar Jr., 23, who he shares with his ex-girlfriend Liza Morales. (In 2006, Jayden, the son of Lamar and Liza, passed away at the age of six months due to sudden infant death syndrome.)
“What made me stop was wanting to be next to my children,” in February, Lamar gave an explanation on The Kardashians. “Wanting their respect.”
The 41-year-old Khloe, who supported him during his recuperation, was equally impacted by the retired athlete's acts.
“I took you through a lot,” Khloe was informed by Lamar. “I love you for trying your hardest with me.”
