With his upcoming major switch, LeBron James is hoping for the best. James talked about his future intentions and professional aspirations two weeks after the NBA champion said he was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers after eight seasons.
James stated at Fanatics Fest NYC on July 16 that he will "wind down the final stages of my journey" following 23 years in the NBA.
The 41-year-old hopes that both his supporters and his detractors will accompany him in this next chapter, wherever he ends up.
"Wherever I land in the fall, hopefully, if you're a ride or die LeBron fan, if you've been down with me since day one, I hope you ride with me there," James revealed. "If you're a ride or die LeBron hater, that's what you do anyway. So, looking forward to seeing you as well."
"I've seen something on social media the other day that wherever I go, maybe in a plane or some s--t like that, then I'm not a factor anymore," he added. "I get that as well, too. So, that's just a little motivation."
In the end, James is eager for the next stage of his career and will give it his best effort.
"It's gonna be pretty fun wherever I land," he observed. "I'm gonna do what I do best. I'm gonna try."
The professional athlete recognized a few NBA teams, including the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat—the latter of which he had previously played for from 2010 to 2014—into the microphone after spectators started yelling which teams they would like to see James join in the fall.
James joked, "We'll see what happens."
Less than three weeks have passed since Rich Paul, James' agent, confirmed the NBA All-Star's exit from the Lakers, which made him a free agent for the upcoming season—his 24th overall.
Regarding James' ride or demise, when can we anticipate learning who he will be spending time with next? According to ESPN, the Olympic gold medallist said at the CNBC and Boardroom Game Plan Summit on July 16, "I won't hold you guys up too much longer."
However, he must consider more than simply himself. After all, James is thinking about his family. He and his wife, Savannah James, have Bronny, 21, Bryce, 18, and Zuri, 10.
"Obviously, it's a big decision," at Fanatics Fest, he responded to a little admirer. "This is the third time in my career that I’ve been a free agent. It’s a big decision for not only myself, but for my family as well."
James' son Bronny, a player for the Los Angeles Lakers, will be there to continue his reputation when he does retire.
