Lewis Capaldi shuts down rumors of a feud with Taylor Swift.

Lewis Capaldi and Taylor Swift are not at odds. When Taylor and Lewis appeared on the same episode of The Graham Norton Show in October Lewis performing his single "Something in the Heavens" and Taylor doing an interview to promote her Life of a Showgirl album—rumors began to circulate. However, Lewis claimed he "was told I wasn't allowed to talk about" his new EP when host Graham Norton questioned him about it. As a result, several viewers blamed Taylor, believing he couldn't sell his Survive EP because the evening was centered around Taylor's record.

Lewis, however, has clarified the situation and stated that the report was "hogwash." Instead, his record label had told him to attempt to keep his EP under wraps, and it hadn't been officially announced yet.

“I saw a TikTok about that. And it’s a woman being like, ‘Taylor did this, and she’s evil,’ and this and that. And I’m going like, ‘That’s completely made up,'" he stated on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM on December 11. "Basically, my EP hadn’t been announced yet."

Lewis acknowledged that fans were aware of his new song, but he wasn't yet authorized to discuss it. Graham, however, was aware of the project because he was the one who asked the question.

"So, I was told by my label, ‘Don’t tell people before you go on.' Not like a, ‘You can’t tell people.’ It was like, ‘It’s not been announced yet, so don’t tell people,'" he clarified. "And then we went on Graham Norton, and Graham said, ‘You’ve got this new EP coming out.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I thought I wasn’t meant to mention it.’”

In the end, the vocalist of "Someone You Loved" declared that the assertion that Taylor was the origin of any hostility "was complete f--king bulls--t."

Actually, during their joint presentation, Taylor was nothing but encouraging. The "Karma" singer even expressed her love for Lewis' performance at one point in the episode, right before he paused to discuss the EP.

"The song is beautiful," in front of the audience, she stated to Lewis. "Like an angel."

Taylor is all too familiar with the experience of being held accountable for unfounded rumors, yet she consistently brushes it off.
