Lucy Hale Opens Up About Hitting "Personal Rock Bottom" While Celebrating 4 Years of Sobriety.

Lucy Hale is commemorating a significant achievement. The former cast member of Pretty Little Liars thought back on her challenging but fruitful health path as she celebrated four years of sobriety.

"4 years ago, I reached a very dark chapter and my personal rock bottom," Lucy wrote a description for her Instagram photo from January 2. "It's wild to say, but that ended up being the greatest gift and biggest turning point in my life."

"The path hasn't always been smooth," she added. "There's been pain, discomfort, loneliness, and deep self-confrontation. But sobriety handed me back my life. I am deeply grateful for every single moment that has brought me to this point."

The 36-year-old also sent a heartfelt message to anyone battling addiction.

"Please know this: there is always a chance to begin again," she exhorted her followers. "Keep going. Keep speaking your truth. Ask for help. And remember that are so worthy of a life you're proud of. Your existence matters, and so does the story you carry. It DOES get better."

Since starting her sober journey in 2022, she has even shared her own discoveries.

"I've realized that darkness isn't always something to fear," she came to a conclusion... "It's often the very thing that leads us toward the light."

Lucy included quotes about looking to the future in addition to a screenshot of her sobriety.

"A new beginning is always variable to us," the passage originated from In a World of Sunrises: 365 Days of Heart, Soul, and Hope by Cleo Wade. "We are not trapped in or beholden to outdated versions of ourselves or our lives. We get to choose change. We get to choose a way from our past patterns. We get to leave out ghosts in the shadows and walk in the sun with new friends."

Matt Cooke said in a different picture of her Instagram post, "There's a future version of you telling the most incredible story of how all this came together."

Lucy has conquered numerous social worries that accompanied her lifestyle shift since deciding to stay sober. In October 2023, she clarified on the Call Her Daddy podcast, "I find some of the most interesting, complex, beautiful human beings I know struggle this same way."

"I feel so stoked to be able to talk about these things and know that I'm good," she continued. “This is something I do that I work on every day. I choose myself every moment of every day because I have to, because I want to be here and I want to live a full life."
