Authorities informed the publication that no arrests have been made in relation to the case so far.

In the meantime, a Jets representative told NBC News that the team "will have no further comment at this time" and that the team "are aware of the situation" concerning Boyd.

The New York Jets and the NYPD have not responded to requests for comment from news organizations.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Boyd in the 2019 NFL Draft, and he played with the organization until 2022. Before agreeing to a one-year deal with the Jets in March, he played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans before being placed on reserve with an injury in August.

Jermaine Johnson II, Boyd's teammate, asked supporters to keep the injured player in their prayers as the situation develops.

“Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family,” in a post on X (previously Twitter), the linebacker stated. “Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord, I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen.”
