When a social media user asked if Nikki Garcia's 4-year-old son Matteo, whom she shares with her ex-husband Artem Chigvintsev, "ever" saw her, the WWE star responded with a finisher to correct the record.
Nikki wrote a direct reply to the comment, asking, “Wonder if you write that to Dad’s[sic]? And yes, he was with me :) All week. Just because I don’t post him all the time doesn’t mean he isn’t with me. I try to keep as much as I can private for his sake.”
In addition to providing additional details on her and Artem's current co-parenting arrangement, the 41-year-old posted a screenshot of the exchange to her Instagram Story on July 20 "for all to see."
“My son is with me a lot,” she stated. “Majority of the week when I'm home. Every Tuesday when I land I drive straight to get him. And drop off on Sundays when I leave. Sometimes I am gone longer and his Dad and I have a great coparent system. He understands how much he needs his mommy.”
Additionally, she reaffirmed her desire that Matteo's privacy “could be protected more,” indicating "l understand sharing certain moments every now and then but not all the time.”
She concluded, “So please no more comments like this. Maybe shouldn't have responded but triggered because a small group of you think if your kid isn't posted all the time he isn't with you.”
The professional wrestler has been open about the difficulties of managing relationship and personal ups and downs while in the spotlight since Nikki and Artem's highly public divorce and subsequent legal battle in 2024. She has also discussed how her on-screen persona may have influenced public opinion regarding her split.
In the June 25 episode of Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, she said to Kristin Cavallari, “I feel like when you're badass women and you kick ass in a ring, people just assume you're not empathetic.”
She went on to say, “People bring up like, 'Well I don't know, 2017, your character in the ring...' I'm like, 'That's not real. I was playing a villain.' I was playing a character, and they all think I'm that person. I mean, I heard it in court through the divorce. Because I was a strong woman, a pro wrestler."
However, Nikki believes that the two ought to be incompatible. She emphasized that "You should not be able to use anything in entertainment," "That is bulls--t."
