Sowore who is a journalist, author, educator, politician, human rights advocate, and pro-democracy crusader. He is most recognized for being the creator of Sahara Reporters, an online news outlet founded in 2006 in New York with the goal of exposing corruption and advancing openness.
In 2018, he established the African Action Congress (AAC) party, and in the general elections of 2019 and 2023, he was the party's presidential candidate.
