Penn Badgley Shares His Upon Discovering That Wife, Domino Kirke, Is Expecting Twins

Penn Badgley was stunned when he learned that he and his wife, Domino Kirke, were expecting twins. The couple had initially thought they would have just one more child, but the surprise of twins completely changed their perspective.

Kirke, who is a doula, shared their excitement on Instagram, calling the pregnancy a "plot twist" and expressing awe at the magic of spontaneous twins.

Badgley, who grew up as an only child, found it especially touching to see the twins together in sonograms. He described one image where they appeared to be sitting across from each other, almost like they were relaxing in a hot tub.

Despite the unexpected nature of the pregnancy, he is embracing the journey and preparing for life as a father of four.

“My wife is a doula, so birth is a real big part of our world, Penn who shares James, 4, with Domino and is stepdad to her son Cassius, 16, with musician Morgan O'Kane" said on the April 23 episode of Call Her Daddy. “So actually, when we thought, we were just going to have one, and we were close to being like, ‘No, were good’ and we were close. And then we decided, let’s try it.”

“I think we thought one would be, you know, we know what it is, we have two, we’re surrounded by children and people having children,” the You star continued. “I think we knew like yeah, this is gonna be a lot, but it felt like a known quantity. And then it was just like, ‘Oh, this is how it will be, very new.’"

Indeed, when Penn and Domino who got married in 2017 shared the news they were expecting twins, they revealed their surprise at growing their family by two.

“Babies #3 and #4 coming this Summer,” Domino captions alongside an Instagram post on Feb. 28. “Talk about a PLOT TWIST! Spontaneous twins are beyond magical. We are stunned. We are in awe. Can’t think of anyone else I’d rather be on this ride with @pennbadgley.”

Penn Badgley finds it deeply moving to witness the connection between his unborn twins. As an only child himself, seeing them together in sonograms has been an emotional experience for him. He described one particular image where the twins appeared to be sitting across from each other. It’s fascinating how twins can form a bond even before birth.

And though he’s stepping into the unknown as a soon-to-be father of four, Penn already has his best fatherhood qualities locked down.

“Best dad quality, listening and then saying I’m sorry,” he revealed on Call Her Daddy. “I think what we do not attribute to a father much is saying something like I’m sorry and really listening. I’m trying to be opposite there. There are other things that I do, I’m not only listening and saying I’m sorry.”

Penn Badgley also shared his thoughts on intimacy during an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. He explored how intimacy doesn't always equate to physical closeness and can be expressed in various meaningful ways. As someone who has navigated complex relationships both on-screen and off, he reflected on the importance of emotional connection and vulnerability in fostering true intimacy.

The conversation resonated with many listeners, highlighting how intimacy can take different forms beyond traditional expectations. It’s a refreshing perspective, especially coming from someone who has portrayed such layered characters in shows like You.
