The family of Lisa Vanderpump has received a heartbreaking medical diagnosis. Sam Vanderpump, the nephew of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, disclosed that he was given only a few years to live due to issues with a key organ.
“We had a call from the doctors, and I’ve got end stage liver disease,” the 28-year-old revealed during the Made in Chelsea episode that aired on October 27. “There is no hope of my liver getting better, and he said, ‘I wouldn’t be having this call with you if I thought you could make it through the next four or five years.’ They’re sending me for a liver transplant assessment.”
The reality star, who is expecting his first child with fiancée Alice Yaxley, told his costar Ollie Locke that he is concentrating on the here and now despite his sobering diagnosis.
“The way I look at it, I’m healthy now,” he clarified. “Hopefully I remain healthy all the way up until one day [when] they’ll give me a call, and I’ll go in for a surgery. And then I wake up and I’ll be healthier.”
Sam has experienced a number of health issues lately, including several hospitals stays in December. He discovered that he had sepsis, a potentially fatal condition where the body has an adverse reaction to an infection, after experiencing severe back pain and dehydration that swiftly progressed to liver and kidney failure. Had he sought medical attention just 24 hours later than he did, the condition could have been fatal.
“We couldn't really understand ourselves what was going on at the time,” in May, when he appeared on Good Morning Britain, he recounted. “I just wasn't feeling great and was going back into hospital a few times and no one could really understand themselves. Not even the doctors knew what was going on.”

There was a bright side to the health scare, even though it was a trying time for Sam and his family. After all, he was motivated to advance in his relationship by his new outlook on life.
“When I first met my girlfriend, now fiancée, I said that this is the girl I'm going to marry,” Sam went on. “So, when I came out of that situation and realizing how short life is, I said, ‘Let's do it now.’”
