Following the French Open drama where Sabalenka was called out for dismissive post-match comments about Gauffās win, the two seemed to set the record straight with some light-hearted moves on the Wimbledon grass. "I think it was more windy,ā she continued. āAlso, I think I was overemotional. Today, I didnāt handle myself quite well mentally. Basically, thatās it. I was just making unforced errors.ā
Coco, ever gracious, chalked it up to emotions running high, even saying she was āa little surprisedā but gave Aryna the benefit of the doubt.
Fans criticized Aryna for failing to recognize Coco's talent after the loss, but she later took back her remarks on Instagram Stories after they caused a stir online. āCoco handled the conditions much better than I did and fully deserved the win.ā
However, Coco disclosed that she and the 27-year-old did not rehearse with the stadium top open due to the weather. She went on to say, āWhen I found out it was open, I saw how windy it was on the court, I knew it was gonna be an ugly win.ā
Both Aryna and Coco will compete in the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, which commence from June 30.
