The Elon Musk's $1 trillion Compensation
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on September 5, 2025, 7:02 PM
Mostly in America will a Board do this without people going to the streets that they're under malaria spell. How do you build a compensation playbook that includes paying a human $1 trillion? "Tesla has put forth a new compensation package for CEO Elon Musk that could be worth an unprecedented $1 trillion, ...The proposal outlines a number of "ambitious" goals Musk will have to hit before earning the full amount, such as boosting Tesla's market value more than eightfold over the next decade. As part of the deal, the billionaire's stake in the company would also be increased to at least 25%." - LinkedIn News
Truly unusual indeed. In the industry, I noticed that someone you are “supervising” can earn more than you. I mean he reports to you, but he earns 3x your take home. And daily you pray that he stays around because if he departs, that project can struggle. It is like what is happening in Facebook’s Meta where some engineers are earning more than their “bosses”. Magically, reporting lines are merely administrative in nature.
Three things build nations: meritocracy, honest leadership and pragmatism. Interestingly when companies plot along those lines, they also build. Performance-based compensation is the modern gold standard in the workplace, and here Tesla is taking it to another level!
