These 5 Songs Describe Adekunle Gold's "Fuji" on First Listen: Each of the songs is unique and fascinating.
Quote from Oladosun Joshua Segun on October 5, 2025, 1:28 PM
I initially felt both excited and a little skeptical when Adekunle Gold revealed that he was going to title his next album "FUJI." On the other hand, I'm happy that one of the most creative Afrobeats artists would at last be taking on the task of selecting a modern record with a fuji influence. However, I could not help but question if the album would truly embody Fuji music or just the title.
Ahead of its release, Adekunle Gold stated that he wanted to create a release that soundtracks his youth, and he spared no expense in realizing his goal. You can imagine my delight when, just two tracks into the project, it is already a Fuji music extravaganza.
Through Pop offers that honor the sound and its main idols, he expands our appreciation of Fuji music throughout the album.
Superstar Adekunle Gold collaborates with Davido, enlists American musician 6lack in a delicate fusion of Fuji and Amapiano, and invests in some of the priciest Afrobeats samples to date.
The album had enough of Fuji's sound, from his famous wife practically groaning his name and praising him as the Godfather on "Don Corleone" to interpolating the iconic Yinka Ayefele song on "Many Men."
All of the songs on the album stand out and have something exciting to give after a first listen, but I have narrowed it down to the top five since they held my attention the longest.
1. Many People

Yinka Ayefele is the king of tungba music, and Adekunle Gold hooks up with him to make a song that takes from time-tested tungba percussion and the modern blend of pop and rap.
Prepare to enjoy the nostalgia of the music that accompanied your 2000s while partying like it is 2025.
2. Don Corleone

Adekunle Gold has blazed his own trail and continuously reinvented himself to keep up with the changes, much like a real Godfather in Hollywood films.
On track 2, "Don Corleone," he celebrates his victory with the assurance of a boss of all bosses, leaning into the flamboyance of Fuji music while his superstar wife whispers his name in admiration of a guy who completes the tasks in every room.
3. Love Is An Action

On this blend of Amapiano and Fuji, Adekunle Gold demonstrates his genre-fluid writing by delivering melodies and tonal inflections that are distinctly Fuji.
The global pop vibe added by American Grammy-nominated artist 6lack modifies the streaming algorithm and makes it more accessible to an urban audience.4. Only God Can Save Me featuring Davido

Davido and Adekunle Gold reunite to create another upbeat single that combines waist-swirling beats and jazzy violins.
Finding the proper woman, chasing money, and the abundance of women available to them are just a few of the special challenges that come with being a superstar. However, they remain unfazed by these concerns. Like celebrities, they have a good time.
5. Believe

It is definitely not cheap to sample Grover Washington and Bill Whether's "Just The Two Of Us." Adekunle Gold makes it apparent that, in his capacity as the Godfather, he lavishes money on artwork that reflects his prestige in a stunning way and poignantly captures his ascent to prominence.
