There is something to learn from that short video interview on what it takes the greatest among us to remain on top. For her, all her opponents are greatest. She has to be Greater to win. Those words communicate tenacity, resilience and valor. Yes, in schools, we do not make As because we are the smartest in class; we make A because we stretched the limits a little more. That is why most professors would not hire lazy students in their labs: besides raw academic brilliance, tenacity is what takes you through elite PhD programs.
