This week, artificial intelligence has done exactly that, uncovering a critical bug in Bitcoin’s Lightning Network and reminding the industry that beneath every promise of financial freedom lies an intricate architecture that must constantly be tested, questioned, and strengthened.

The Lightning Network was designed as one of Bitcoin’s great answers to scalability. By moving transactions away from the base layer and into payment channels, it allows users to transact with greater speed and potentially lower costs.

But complexity is a double-edged sword. Every additional layer of infrastructure creates new surfaces where unexpected weaknesses can hide. The discovery of a critical bug by AI therefore carries significance beyond the vulnerability itself.

There is something almost poetic about the development.

Bitcoin, born from a desire to create money independent of centralized intermediaries, is now being examined by another creation of human intelligence: artificial intelligence. Code written by people is being challenged by machines built by people.

While developers confront the security implications, capital continues moving toward crypto through another rapidly expanding gateway: exchange-traded funds. Daily ETF flows reveal an appetite that refuses to remain confined to Bitcoin alone.

Bitcoin ETFs recorded $242.24 million in daily inflows, reinforcing the continued institutional demand surrounding the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Ethereum followed remarkably closely, attracting $234.51 million.

The narrow gap between the two suggests that investors are increasingly treating the broader digital-asset market as an ecosystem rather than a single-asset phenomenon.

Solana ETFs added another $60.91 million, while XRP ETFs recorded $18.47 million. These flows paint a broader picture: capital is spreading across multiple blockchain ecosystems, each competing for a place in the next chapter of digital finance.

The contrast is striking. On one side, AI is digging into the foundations, searching for cracks before they become catastrophes. On the other, investors are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into financial products linked to crypto assets.

Security and capital are therefore moving in parallel. One determines whether the infrastructure can withstand the weight placed upon it; the other measures how much weight the market is willing to place there.

The Lightning Network bug is a reminder that adoption without resilience is fragile. ETF inflows, meanwhile, suggest that institutional conviction continues to deepen despite the industry’s technical risks.

Crypto’s future will not be determined solely by price charts or capital flows. It will also be shaped by the invisible work of developers, researchers, auditors, and increasingly, AI systems searching through millions of lines of code.

The market may chase the next candle, but the deeper story is unfolding beneath it: money is flowing in, while intelligence is probing the machinery that carries it. For Bitcoin and the wider crypto economy, that may be the most important race of all.

Elon Musk Predicts SpaceX Could Reach $3.5 Trillion in Revenue by 2033

Elon Musk has offered an ambitious glimpse into SpaceX’s financial future, projecting that the aerospace company could generate as much money in 2023.

On August 27, 2026, Musk said on X that his best guess is for the company to reach $3.5 trillion in annual revenue around 2033, offering a glimpse into his ambitious outlook for the company’s future growth

His comment came in response to discussion of a recent Morgan Stanley research note that projected SpaceX reaching roughly the same level of annual revenue only in 2040.

Morgan Stanley’s model, shared with large investors around the time of SpaceX’s June 2026 public listing under the ticker SPCX, estimated about $330 billion in revenue by 2030 and approximately $3.4–3.5 trillion by 2040.

The forecast highlights Musk’s growing expectations for SpaceX as the company expands beyond rocket launches into satellite internet, space infrastructure and other emerging opportunities

That long-term figure assumed a dramatic ramp in Starship activity, potentially reaching 5,800 launches per year from eight pads. Musk’s timeline advances the bank’s target by seven years while aligning with the scale of the opportunity he has previously described.

The prediction builds on his earlier comments. In June 2026, shortly after the IPO, he said he thought SpaceX might reach approximately $1 trillion in revenue by 2030 and would be surprised if it did not exceed that level in 2031.

After debuting as the most volatile stock among its large-cap peers, SpaceX equity hasn’t moved in three weeks, with shares trading in a $10 range around the $140 level.

The company priced its IPO at $135 per share on June 12, giving it a valuation of roughly $1.77 trillion, making it the largest IPO in history. It reported $18.67 billion in revenue for full-year 2025, up 33% from 2024.

In the second quarter of 2026 alone, revenue reached $7.81 billion, a 92% year-over-year increase, bringing first-half 2026 revenue to $12.51 billion. Trailing-twelve-month revenue stood near $23 billion as of mid-2026.

Reaching $3.5 trillion would require sustained, extremely high growth—on the order of 90% compound annual growth for several years from today’s base. For perspective, Amazon, still the world’s largest company by revenue in recent years, generated about $717 billion in 2025. A $3.5 trillion SpaceX would be nearly five times that size.

Investor sentiment around SpaceX appears divided between long-term optimism and valuation concerns. Bullish investors view the company as more than a traditional aerospace business. Its Starlink satellite network, Starship launch system, AI infrastructure ambitions, and acquisition of xAI have created a much broader growth story.

MarketWatch noted that investors are still struggling to determine whether SpaceX should primarily be valued as an AI company or a space and telecommunications company.

Its stock has shown relatively little correlation with major technology names such as Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft and Alphabet, highlighting how unusual SpaceX’s business model is.

The more cautious camp argues that much of SpaceX’s future growth is already reflected in its valuation. Morningstar, for example, assigned the company a fair value of $63 per share, less than half its $135 IPO price.

Its analysis argued that the IPO valuation effectively required investors to place a very high probability on SpaceX successfully executing its most ambitious plans, including a rapidly reusable Starship and commercially viable orbital data centers.

Despite early volatility, industry leaders like Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang and Wall Street analysts remain optimistic, projecting the stock could reach $240 to $800 by 2027.

The path Musk envisions relies on the scaling of Starship, continued expansion of Starlink connectivity services, and a major push into AI compute infrastructure, including both terrestrial data centers and longer-term concepts for orbital facilities.

SpaceX has already begun breaking out AI-related revenue, which contributed meaningfully to the strong second-quarter results. The company also recently announced plans for a $100 billion launch complex in Louisiana, described as its largest spaceport project and one that Morgan Stanley noted could support even higher launch cadences than its 2040 assumptions.

The implication for investors is that SpaceX’s stock could have enormous upside if Musk’s vision materializes, but equally significant downside if Starship, AI infrastructure or Starlink fail to scale as expected.

Whether SpaceX can convert technical capability and market opportunity into revenue on this timeline remains an open question. The company has never issued formal long-range revenue guidance in its filings, and Musk’s figures are personal estimates rather than official targets.

Achieving the numbers would require near-flawless execution on reusable launch systems at unprecedented rates, continued dominance in satellite broadband, and successful commercialization of AI infrastructure at massive scale. Execution risks, capital intensity, regulatory hurdles, and competitive responses are all significant.

Still, Musk has repeatedly framed SpaceX’s ambitions in the broadest possible terms, enabling the expansion of civilization and advancing toward a multi-planetary future.

Swiss-Based Blockchain Company Lisk to Shut Down as it Pivots to Financial Operations Platform

Lisk, a Swiss-based blockchain project is shutting down its network as it pivots toward building a financial operations platform for businesses, marking a significant shift in its strategy.

The company is repositioning itself as a modern money operations platform for businesses, designed to help finance and operations teams manage accounts, payments, and approvals in a single workspace.

The platform also focuses on enabling businesses to move funds across fiat and stablecoin payment rails, particularly for companies operating across multiple countries, entities, and currencies.

As part of this transition, the Lisk Chain will cease operations on October 31, 2026, with the company encouraging developers and projects currently building on the network to assess their options ahead of the shutdown.

The company wrote via a post on LinkedIn,

Lisk is becoming the modern money operations platform for finance teams: one workspace for accounts, payments, and approvals across entities, jurisdictions, and rails. The shift brings implications for the Lisk chain.

The strategic shift means the Lisk Chain will no longer remain at the centre of the company’s long-term product direction. To support projects that may be affected, an optional migration path to Celo has been established for decentralised applications (dApps) and developers currently deployed on or building on Lisk.

The migration is open to all projects, but developers are not required to move to Celo. Instead, each project will need to determine whether the network fits its product, user base, infrastructure, and technical requirements.

For projects that choose Celo, the Celo Core Co. team has prepared resources to help developers deploy their applications and establish themselves within the ecosystem.

The process begins with projects submitting a brief overview covering their deployment status, smart contract addresses, active users or liquidity, and key infrastructure dependencies.

The Celo team will then review submissions individually and work with each project to determine the most appropriate migration strategy.

Importantly, the Lisk Chain will remain fully operational and supported until the scheduled shutdown date, giving developers time to evaluate the migration option and make preparations before the network shuts down.

The development represents a major transition for Lisk, moving its focus away from operating a dedicated blockchain toward financial infrastructure aimed at helping businesses manage money and payments more efficiently.

Live since 2016, Lisk operated as the modern money operations platform for businesses. Finance and operations teams use Lisk to run accounts, payments, and approvals in one workspace, moving money across fiat and stablecoin rails.

Lisk’s decision to wind down its blockchain in 2026 marks the end of a decade-long chapter for one of the earliest projects to emerge from Switzerland’s crypto ecosystem.

Founded by Max Kordek and Oliver Beddows in Zug, Switzerland, Lisk was created with an ambitious goal: to make blockchain development more accessible by allowing developers to build applications using familiar programming languages such as JavaScript.

One of its most significant technological achievements came in 2018 with the launch of the Lisk SDK. The software development kit was designed to make blockchain application development easier by giving developers modular tools for creating their own blockchain applications.

By focusing on JavaScript, Lisk attempted to lower the technical barrier that had traditionally made blockchain development accessible mainly to developers familiar with specialized blockchain programming environments.

Lisk continued upgrading its underlying technology. In 2021, protocol upgrades introduced a new address system and a Byzantine Fault Tolerance mechanism for block finalization, alongside improvements to the peer-to-peer network, consensus mechanism, and transaction-fee structure. These changes were aimed at improving security, scalability, and transaction efficiency.

The project later underwent another major transformation. After operating for years as an independent Layer-1 blockchain, Lisk announced in 2023 that it would migrate toward the Ethereum ecosystem as a Layer-2 network, using Optimism’s OP Stack. The move was particularly notable because Lisk described itself as the first Layer-1 blockchain to make such a transition.

According to DeFiLlama, a blockchain analytics platform, Lisk’s blockchain had over $139,000 in total value locked (TVL)—the value of digital assets deposited in Lisk’s decentralised applications on the network.

Since January 2026, its TVL has steadily declined from $5.47 million, showing how sharply activity and liquidity on the blockchain have contracted. The current level is also the lowest since at least 2024. 

The blockchain currently holds over $587,000 in stablecoins. Decentralised exchange trading volume was about $1,700 over the latest 24 hours, while the network generated about $3.88 in fees, underscoring the little capital flow and economic activity the blockchain is currently supporting. 

The company’s pivot comes less than a year after blockchain founder Max Kordek returned as chief executive officer in December 2025 and began consolidating Lisk’s operations around a single focus.

Notably, Lisk’s shutdown isn’t a disappearance of the brand but a significant change in direction.

After roughly a decade of experimenting with blockchain, the company is effectively closing one chapter to build an entirely different product around a problem its founders say they encountered firsthand: managing money across modern, globally distributed businesses.

Artificial intelligence is beginning to resemble a new kind of infrastructure—less like a machine sitting quietly inside a laboratory and more like electricity flowing through the veins of the digital world.

Its power is immense, but so is the shadow it casts. As AI systems become more capable, the battlefield surrounding them is changing, and cybersecurity is becoming one of the defining contests of the age.

AI models are increasingly interconnected with critical infrastructure, businesses, governments and millions of users. A vulnerability in one part of the ecosystem can ripple outward with extraordinary speed.

The message is therefore larger than a conventional security pledge. It is an argument for cooperation in an industry built around competition. The irony is striking. AI companies are racing against one another to develop increasingly powerful models.

Yet the threats confronting those systems do not recognize corporate boundaries. Cybercriminals, malicious actors and sophisticated attackers can exploit weaknesses wherever they find them. Defensive knowledge.

Threat intelligence and security practices may therefore become more valuable when shared rather than guarded. The open letter arrives at a moment when AI itself is becoming a tool in cyber operations.

The same technology capable of detecting suspicious activity, analyzing enormous volumes of data and strengthening digital defenses can also be used to automate attacks, discover vulnerabilities and accelerate malicious campaigns. The sword and shield are being forged from the same metal.

That duality makes collective defense particularly important. Meanwhile, the competitive landscape of AI is producing another dramatic development: DeepSeek is reportedly looking to raise $7.4 billion at a valuation of $74 billion.

If achieved, such a fundraising would represent a remarkable escalation in the financial expectations surrounding the Chinese AI company and underscore how quickly AI valuations can expand when investors believe a company has technological and strategic significance.

DeepSeek’s rise has already challenged assumptions about the economics of advanced AI. Its emergence demonstrated that the race is not simply about who possesses the largest computing infrastructure or spends the most money.

Efficiency, model architecture, training methods and access to talent can reshape the competitive equation. A $74 billion valuation would consequently carry symbolism beyond the number itself.

It would signal that investors see DeepSeek not merely as another AI laboratory, but as an important participant in the global contest over artificial intelligence.

Yet valuation is ultimately a wager on the future. Billions can be raised on expectations, but those expectations must eventually meet revenue, adoption, technological progress and geopolitical realities.

These developments reveal two sides of AI’s unfolding story. One is financial: capital is rushing toward companies believed capable of defining the next technological era. The other is defensive: the greater AI becomes, the more urgently the industry must protect the digital world it is helping construct.

The race for intelligence may be competitive, but the responsibility for security is collective. And perhaps that is the quiet lesson beneath the noise of billion-dollar valuations: humanity is not merely building machines that can think faster. It is building a new digital civilization around them.

If that civilization is to endure, its architects may have to learn that some battles are won not by standing apart, but by standing together.

The AI Trade Faces a Political Reckoning

The greatest near-term threat to the artificial intelligence trade may not be hidden inside an earnings report, a weaker revenue forecast, or a disappointing product launch. It may be waiting somewhere far less predictable: at the ballot box.

For years, the AI boom has been presented as an almost unstoppable technological sunrise. Billions of dollars have poured into chips, servers and data centers, while companies race to build the infrastructure needed to power increasingly sophisticated models.

Nvidia has become one of the clearest symbols of that expansion, standing at the intersection of AI demand and the enormous computing appetite behind it.

But the machines need a home, and those homes need electricity. That is where the political weather is beginning to change.

Alger’s Ankur Crawford recently warned that the growing fight over data centers could become a “kill the AI” moment during the U.S. midterm elections. The phrase captures a risk that Wall Street may be underestimating: technological enthusiasm can survive volatility.

But it becomes much harder to defend when voters believe the infrastructure behind it is making everyday life more expensive. Data centers have become an unusually bipartisan target.

Political advertisements in Texas, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania are increasingly connecting electricity prices to the rapid construction of large computing facilities. Newsweek has reported that all six Senate toss-up races are touching the broader data-center debate.

What began as an argument about technology is therefore drifting into the language of household economics. And household economics has a powerful voice. Crawford argues that many complaints surrounding water consumption and noise are little more than fear, uncertainty and doubt.

She also believes the most significant pressure on the power grid will arrive later this decade rather than immediately. From an investor’s perspective, that distinction matters. From a voter’s perspective, it may not.

A family staring at an electricity bill does not necessarily care whether the grid crisis is arriving in 2026, 2028 or 2029. If the bill is rising today, the political question becomes painfully simple: who is responsible?

Even Texas Governor Greg Abbott appears to recognize the shifting landscape. Once an enthusiastic supporter of massive technology investments, including a reported $40 billion Google project, Abbott has moved toward ordering utility audits of data-center permits.

The change illustrates how quickly political incentives can evolve when a technological boom collides with public anxiety over infrastructure. For investors, the story is more complicated than a simple bearish signal.

Crawford remains bullish on Nvidia, suggesting that the fundamental AI opportunity is still enormous. The company sits at the heart of a technological transformation that stretches across cloud computing, enterprise software, robotics and increasingly autonomous systems.

Demand for advanced computing has not suddenly disappeared. Yet the crucial word is later. Much of the growth mathematics points toward 2029. That leaves investors navigating a strange landscape: enormous expectations today, enormous infrastructure requirements tomorrow, and an increasingly political debate in between.

The AI revolution may still be marching forward, but every revolution eventually encounters the ground beneath its feet. For AI, that ground is the electric grid, the power bill and the voter.

The next great test for the AI trade may therefore not be whether machines can become more intelligent. It may be whether society is willing to pay the price of giving them the power to think.

The chips may be ready. The capital may be ready. The algorithms may be ready. But democracy gets a vote too.
